Founded in 2003, Borderline specializes in unscripted television that blends reality with comedy and documentary to cover a wide range of subjects – from social issues to travel and satire.
As well as this, Borderline’s work in commercials and documentary film underlines a skill in taking the real world and turning it into fascinating filmed material.
Borderline offers a strong roster of projects for development as well as a talented and experienced creative-production team to undertake existing concepts from development through post-production.
WHO IS BORDERLINE?
Nick McKinney, Borderline’s founder and principal, is an Emmy and WGA Award nominated Writer, Director and Producer.
Past Borderline projects include serving as Executive Producer and Director of “Insomniac with Dave Attell” and “Straight Plan for the Gay Man” – both for Comedy Central - as well as Executive Producer of “The Al Franken Show” for Sundance Channel and “The All Star BBQ Showdown” for OLN.
Other past television credits include two seasons as a Writer-Producer on Michael Moore’s “The Awful Truth”, field and specials production for “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”, and the creation and writing of “The Vacant Lot” for MTV, Comedy Central and the CBC. Film credits include the creation, writing, and co-direction of “The Herd” – a feature length docu-drama filmed in the Canadian arctic and co-writing credits on “32 Short Films about Glenn Gould” and the upcoming dramatic comedy “I’m Yours”.

Borderline recently sold the project “What’s So Funny About…”, a worldwide humor documentary, to Discovery Channel. In addition to these TV projects Borderline is also in production on the feature length documentaries “Pushing Too Hard” - about enigmatic 60’s music icon Sky “Sunlight” Saxon, lead singer of The Seeds, and “Doug Stanhope: Some F-----‘ed up Notion of a Dream”, about the life and work of counter-culture comedian Doug Stanhope.
